This brochure was crated for the business Aqua Zoo, a large aquarium home to many different species of fish and underwater plant life from all over the globe. I used blue and purple for the main colors of the scheme because cool colors have a calm feel. The type used for the majority of the brochure is simple, with serifs for good readability. Some of the type used is a sans serif type, and also has a brighter door rather then just black. This was to add emphasis to that particular section of text, and grab a viewers attention quickly. The quote on the third panel is also much larger in scale then the rest of the text on the page, so that the viewer reads that quote first.

Blog Entry 15 – Project 2 Revised Files
Revisions
Adjust Kerning, baseline to combination part, additional line, x height, gradient on peach and leaf small adjustments, aligning.
Blog Entry 16 – Brochure Research
The first brochure is for Adaptive
Adventures Military Operations program or AAMO for short. The
brochure uses lots of imagery and pictures. Some of the photos are
boxed, and aligned within their panels of the brochure. Others,
specifically the skiers without a background, branch over and take up
part of multiple panels. Besides the photos, the main color are black
and red, black for the main text, and red for headers to emphasize
them.
This next brochure is explaining
Biokinetics. The main colors utilized in this brochure are white,
black, yellow, and a few different shades of green. This brochure
has very strong, bold alignment, the headers for paragraphs use a
larger typeface, with a little color to make good contrast with the
information sections of text. However, the images placed throughout
the brochure don't seem to have too much purpose other then to use
space, they are somewhat visually attractive.
Third brochure is for Tregear Public
school. Unlike some of the other brochures, this one does not use
black for the main bodies of type, and instead uses blue and red.
However, the color is still dull enough to be easily readable. The
alignment for the text, as well as the images for this brochure has a
very structured alignment. The panels are very easily defined.
Printed Brochure is for Sommer Center at Bluffton. The first page on the brochure has a picture of the building, as well as a shorter header which states what the building is and what the pamphlet is. Becides the front panel on this brochure, the rest (inside included) is very structured, and has little going on. Although there are Slight headers, and also bullets to align and organize text, the overall brochure may seem a bit dull.
Last Brochure, printed, is for Bluffton's Lion and Lamb art center, This brochure uses lots of purple in the design, with different blocks for section of text, this contrast helps grab a viewers attention. The lion and lamb logo is also displayed on 2 of the brochures panels, which helps with the association. Photographs are also utilized usefully for this brochure.

Blog Entry 13 – Thomas Linder Artist Talk
Contemporary
artist, Thomas Linder went to the Kansas City Art Institute to study
art, as well as Bowling Green State University for graduate school.
He is now a professor, teaching 2D composition as well as some 3D at
BGSU. One thing I really picked up on during the artist lecture was
that Linder really seems to enjoy experimenting with art, and many of
his works are the product of testing out new ideas or materials.
Similar
to his installation in Bluffton's Albrecht gallery, many of his
pieces also use plastic sheeting as a work material. A common shape
he uses is 'the pillow', made with simple squares, the plastic
becomes a complex, billowing form once inflated. Some of his
artworks are kinetic sculptures, utilizing fans or other means of air
to move the pieces. Others have a different focus, Linder uses LED's
and other lights to give his pieces feeling, using different colored
lighting to convey emotion. The concept behind this is that the
audience gets to see the light refracting from the inside of the
sculpture or installation as if it were some type of membrane.

Blog Entry 12 – Project 2 Research Sketches
The first 3 logo sketches belong to the same company, Peach Perfect. Peach Perfect is a chain restaurant business who specializes in making peach themed foods. Costumers who stop by for a visit can enjoy a lovely selection of foods, for example, peach cobbler, peach waffles, peach pie, or even the famous grilled peach and cheese sandwiches.
Number 4 is Emerald Studios, a nail care salon. While the bright green grabs a viewers immediate attention, the small words at the bottom describe features of the salon without being too harsh. Customers who visit Emerald's can have their nails professionally done, or have plastics applied. The Salon also has products available for purchase for both nails and skin care.
Moon Cheese is a gift shop and diner based in Wisconsin. They attract customers and tourists with their unique theme of 'moon cheese', cheese supposedly harvested from the moon. (Really green cheese or swiss) The shop features both locally produced cheeses as well as specialty cheeses from across the globe. Customers can either shop for cheese, or sit down for dinner and be able to choose from a white variety of cheese themed foods.
This is a logo for a locksmith business called The Locksmith's Association. They can install things like locks or deadbolts, they can duplicate keys, and even pick lock cars for customers who have locked themselves out of their vehicles. Since this is a symbolic logo, the company name is not present, however a viewer is still able to recognize the key symbols and perhaps associate the main idea.

Blog Entry 12 – Jordan Tate Artist Talk
During Jordan Tate's artist lecture, he
talked a lot about some of the main ideas that inspire his artwork.
Many of his works involve conceptual ideas revolving around the idea
of space and time, or limitations and capability of material.
For instance, in one of the sections
of his piece, “Gambit Warning” Tate chose to represent the number
code for the color Yves Klein blue, a color which shows up on a
computer screen, but cannot be transported to paper. Since the color
cannot be literally represented, the piece then demonstrates this
loss while talking about the capability of material.
Jordan Tate also talked a lot about
the notion of infinity, and how we as humans need to place limits on
things in order to actually understand them. He was very enthusiastic
about the idea that since there is a possible infinite amount of
space, there is therefore an infinite percentage of a chance that
there is an alternate universe somewhere nearly identical to our own.
He is currently working on a piece that relates to the idea of
'infinity' by trying to recreate a work that is like a black hole.
That is, using something blacker then black, or even 'an infinite'
black.
